The Hannah Montana star has been involved in a number of career controversies, which have included posing semi-topless in Vanity Fair as well as her recent pole dance at the Teen Choice Awards.
The 16-year-old said that her missteps have been magnified by being in the public eye and that she has to remain vigilant as a role model to young girls, according to The Huffington Post.
"My mistakes are kind of a little bit harder because they are in front of millions and millions of people," she told Today Show presenter Natalie Morales.
"I get to go through that and I get to learn. It's hard sometimes to smile about it, because half the time, yeah, it does suck to have to go through that."
She added: "But also it makes you want to try harder the next time when I know that little girls look at me and say I'm their hero."
Billy Ray Cyrus recently confirmed that his daughter's Disney Channel series will be coming to an end.
