Lisbon has been chosen to host the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2005 on 3rd November.
"We chose Lisbon because it's a young city and because MTV Portugal has been performing so well and with such enthusiasm," explained MTV CEO Brent Hansen. The national channel launched in 2003.
This year's event was held in Rome last month, and in previous years hosts have included Barcelona and Edinburgh.
The EMAs usually feature 14 award categories covering all genres of music.
