Uma Thurman to get into leather

Kill Bill actress Uma Thurman is going to be the new face of French luxury leather goods designer Louis Vuitton.

Her first appearance in the advertising campaign will be next February as she will be seen sporting Vuitton's new Manhattan bag. Previous stars who have lent their celebrity to the brand include Jennifer Lopez, Christina Ricci, Chloe Sevigny, Diane Kruger and the stunning Scarlett Johansson.

"The idea was to present this ultra-feminine woman and to show her in a rough and bare industrial environment, to dress her in a sophisticated way, opposite to the unexpected decor made of cement and concrete," explained Marc Jacobs, artistic director of Louis Vuitton.

Other actresses who have recently taken part in advertising for cosmetics and accessories include Nicole Kidman (Chanel), Charlotte Gainsbourg (Gerard Darel) and Charlize Theron (Dior).
