Owen, who found fame in the 1980s working alongside Anne Diamond, has four children with the nurse.
"We have split," confirmed Lavery. "It was an amicable split. We're on good terms. We are still friends."
The couple have already reportedly moved out of their £300,000 family home in Birmingham.
Owen, who co-presented Good Morning Britain between 1983 and 1986, currently works on regional news show Midlands Today and is the chairman of Luton Town Football Club.
