DJ AM 'was planning to check into rehab'

Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein had agreed to check into rehab shortly before he died, reports suggest.

According to the New York Post, Goldstein had been "missing appointments and acting erratically", causing his West Coast manager and recovery sponsor to fly to New York.

Goldstein's friends allegedly told police that when the pair arrived on Thursday, the DJ refused to see his manager but allowed his sponsor in.

However, he then reportedly lit a crack pipe and took some pills.

Goldstein apparently promised to check into a California clinic after performing in Las Vegas, but he never arrived for the concert.

When he didn't turn up, his friends called the police, who found the star dead in his apartment. An initial autopsy completed on Saturday was inconclusive.
