An official source has revealed that eight OxyContin painkillers were discovered in Goldstein’s stomach and one in his mouth.
A police source told People: "He wanted to die.
"He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn't even swallow it."
Police shattered a mirror which had been propped up against the door upon breaking into Goldstein's home last Friday. As well as drug paraphernalia, they found a Valentine's card from the late musician's girlfriend Haley Wood.
The Sun quotes Wood as saying: "Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumoured break-up is not only untrue but disgusting.
"We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much."
