Jason Bateman has said that the Fox series Arrested Development resurrected his acting career.

The former child star, who appeared on the iconic American television show Little House On The Prairie, has admitted that he is trying to "figure out a responsible, a respectable way to box office relevance".

Bateman told The Huffington Post: "I feel like I'm now gaining the courage to take a bigger piece of business and see where that takes me."

As for his role on the short-lived comedy series Arrested Development, the 40-year-old has insisted that the show "resuscitated" his status as a viable actor.

He added: "It put me here, literally. Without that show, I don't really know what I'd be doing.

"You couldn't ask for a better resuscitation of one's career than what that show did for me."

Bateman recently confirmed that the Arrested Development film will be a "small effort".
