Jonathan Ross and Lisa Snowdon have attended a fundraising event at a trading floor in the City.

Comic Rory Bremner and former Countdown star Carol Vorderman also made appearances to help raise money for Barnados, Breast Cancer Care, Help for Heroes and The Variety Club.

Held at the BGC Partners' trading floors around the world, the annual fundraiser was originally set up to honour employees who died in the 9/11 attacks in New York.

All the fees and commission made at the event went to the celebrities' chosen charities.

"I didn't feel like Gordon Gekko, I felt more like Gordon Brown and he might not necessarily know what he's doing," Ross told PA.

Speaking on the phone at one point, the TV presenter joked: "It's yours for £10 million, take the rest of the day off... Get Derren Brown on the phone, he can get you the numbers in advance."
