Nicole Richie is 'happiest person ever'

Lionel Richie has described his daughter Nicole as the "happiest person" he has ever met after she gave birth last week.

The singer told Us Weekly that he has already bought his new grandson Sparrow a football outfit.

"I bought the football helmet and the cleats, and they told me it wasn't time yet," he said. "Sparrow may not be the football-playing name, but that means he's going to be a bruiser.

"The point is, I love him."

Richie added that his granddaughter Harlow is enjoying having a younger brother, and said that Nicole is doing well.

"She is the happiest person I have met in my life," he explained. "Right now, she's just in total control.

"I'm the one that's nervous. I'm Grandpa."
