Houston: 'Brown emotionally abused me'

Whitney Houston has revealed that ex-husband Bobby Brown would emotionally abuse her when he was drunk.

In her first in-depth interview since divorcing the star, Houston told Oprah Winfrey that her "crazy love" for him left her beaten down and abusing cocaine and marijuana, Contactmusic reports.

The singer also admitted that she tried to be the "perfect wife" and for a long time, she and Brown "fought hard [and] loved hard".

However, Houston confessed that she struggled to deal with her ex when he drank and became "mean". Although she insisted that Brown never physically abused her, she said that he would terrify her with his crazy behaviour.

She further recalled him cutting her head off in pictures and drawing "evil eyes" on their bedroom walls with spray paint.

Houston added: "He had such hate in his eyes for me, because I loved him so much."

The first part of Winfrey's interview with Houston airs today in the US.
