Whitney Houston admits freebasing cocaine

Whitney Houston has admitted that she and her ex-husband Bobby Brown used to freebase cocaine in marijuana joints.

Speaking on The Oprah Winfrey Show, the singer again denied smoking crack cocaine with a pipe.

Houston said: "Before The Bodyguard it was very light. After The Bodyguard it started getting heavy. Cocaine. Marijuana. We were lacing our marijuana with base. We would buy a kilo.

"We were not doing pipe smoking. You roll it up and you smoke it in your weed. It's almost like heroin-cocaine speedballs but you level it off with marijuana, okay?"

She added: "I didn't think about the singing part anymore. I'd totally forgotten about that life. I had so much money by that time."

In 2002, Houston told ABC News's Dianne Sawyer that despite her drug use she had never taken crack cocaine - a lower-purity form of the drug usually made with baking soda.

"Let's get one thing straight. Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack. Let's get that straight. OK? We don't do crack. We don't do that. Crack is whack," she said.
