Kirstie Alley has expressed her sadness at the passing of Patrick Swayze and her hope that the the actor would soon be reincarnated.

The former Cheers star wrote on her Twitter page that she was there for Swayze's wife Lisa Niemi if she needed her.

Alley said: "I will always cherish my amazing memories of Patrick. We had so much fun together. Come back soon Patrick, we need you here on earth.

"I know we come back. Over and over and over, like clockwork. But it never discounts how much we miss people we love... never."

She added: "OK... tonight let's all send Patrick on his way... in the style he lived. WILD AND FREE. Here's to you... WILD THING you made our hearts sing."
