Bobby Brown has said that he does not think he and Whitney Houston hurt each other when they were married.

The singer also told The Insider that he would speak directly with Houston if he felt she said anything "untrue or disrespectful" on her Oprah Winfrey Show interviews.

Brown said: "I think we corrupted each other. I don't think she hurt me or I hurt her in any way.

"I just think we had a 14-year marriage that had its ups and downs and not many people understood it."

Regarding the pair's cocaine use, he added: "I used an awful lot and I can't take that back. Cocaine, it's a powerful drug.

"I think I was bored. I had just gotten married and things weren't right. Unfortunately, I turned to alcohol and drugs."

Houston told Winfrey that while Brown never physically abused her, he was a "mean" drunk who scared her with his behaviour.
