Jay-Z has admitted that he feels that the media has reportedly made too much out of Kanye West's VMAs outburst.

The rapper, who collaborated with the hip hop star and singer Rihanna on his new single 'Run This Town', told Radio 1 host Jo Whiley that West's behaviour towards Taylor Swift was "rude", BBC News reports.

However, the 39-year-old said that he believes that West has been treated unfairly in the press.

He said: "He's just a super-passionate person. Of course it was rude because it was her moment but that's the way he really felt."

He added: "I think it was rude but the way they're treating him... He's on the cover of every paper. He didn't kill anybody. No one got harmed."

It was reported earlier that West personally apologised to Swift for disrupting her acceptance speech for best female video, which he felt should have gone to Jay-Z's wife Beyoncé.

The 19-year-old has said that West's apology was “sincere”.
