Redknapp 'missed being in the city'

Louise Redknapp has admitted that she missed being in the city while shooting her new Five show Farmer Wants A Wife.

The 34-year-old, who hails from Lewisham in south-east London, praised the "breathtaking" farm where the show was filmed but claimed that she was eager to return to her urban life.

"It was brilliant for a weekend, but I have to say I missed shopping on Oxford Street," she told PA.

"I like the city. But saying that, the farm Desmond owns is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. He grows all this amazing organic fruit and veg and has an 18th-century manor house. It's breathtaking."

Redknapp, who has previously hosted The Clothes Show, revealed that she avoided purchasing a new wardrobe for the programme.

"I certainly didn't go out and buy a Barbour jacket. I wore some wellingtons and that's about it," she said.

"Before we started filming I said to myself, 'This isn't a fashion show', so I didn't want to get all tweeded up. It would have felt wrong doing that, because it's not my moment to get all dolled up in farming gear, it's about them - I just wore what I would wear if I was on a farm.

"There were no stylists showing up with a different outfit every week, and I knew I needed to get stuck in if I was going to do the show properly. If we needed to be at a haulage farm, then that's where we went."

According to viewing figures, the series opened with 898k (4.1%) on the first night.

Farmer Wants A Wife continues on Five on September 23.
