McFarlane swears on Emmys red carpet

Seth McFarlane has been told off for swearing during a cable television interview.

The Family Guy creator was being interviewed by Giuliana Rancic of E! at the time, KansasCity reports.

Rancic said: "This is cable, so it's okay if you swear. You can say whatever you want - don't! Do you curse in real life?"

McFarlane replied: "I kinda do. It's just, it's the Los Angeles way."

Rancic asked "What's your go-to word, without saying it? What's it start with and end with?"

McFarlane said: "Usually it's 'Christ'. Isn't that odd? It's because I'm from New England. 'Jesus Christ!' doesn't go over so well in this puritanical age."

Later, Rancic quizzed McFarlane on his "aggressive" campaign for his show at the awards and he responded: "The nomination for us is the victory. We just figure what the f**k."

Rancic said: "Did you just cuss? We may be cable but you can't use the f-word on E!"

McFarlane retorted: "Well, what do you want? You throw a microphone in my face. What do you expect?"
