Coldplay 'donate £1m to charity'

Coldplay have donated £1m to children's charity Kids Company, according to reports.

The organisation, which works with young ex-offenders and disadvantaged children, received the contribution from the band earlier this week, says Contactmusic.

"They were moved by the tough stories they heard and want to be genuine participants," said the charity's Camila Batmanghelidjh. "I got the feeling the donation was something they had planned from the start of their careers."

Along with other cash donations, Coldplay have previously visited the group's various centres and also plan to give music lessons to the children.
