'Last Christmas' was Michael's worst

Published Saturday, Dec 25 2004, 11:50 GMT | By Daniel Saney
George Michael has admitted that Last Christmas is his worst song.

He said that the seasonal number, recorded with the other half of Wham!, Andrew Ridgely, is the worst of his career because it was based on a weak sentiment.

It has also occurred to the singer that he sounded a little bit like a girl in the Eighties:

"There are some things in pop music where you want to express feeling.

"I mean, for God's sake, on Last Christmas I sound like a girl - but it's almost because the actual sentiment is so weak.

"It's like that old soul thing where you can sing a woman into bed by sounding like a woman."

Last Christmas was kept from the Christmas number one spot in 1984 by the original Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas?.
