Stern 'faces multiple Smith charges'

Howard K. Stern has reportedly been charged with a number of alleged prescription abuses relating to his late partner Anna Nicole Smith.

According to TMZ, the lawyer has been charged with six felonies relating to the procurement of drugs for Smith.

It is claimed that prosecutors are hoping to add an additional five counts to the sheet against Stern, while two doctors also face charges.

Stern has maintained his innocence and said that he will fight the accusations against him.

Recently unsealed court documents show that a Valley Village pharmacist refused to fill a prescription from a psychiatrist for Smith five days after the death of her son, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The faxed page reportedly sent five months before Smith's death requested 300 tablets of methadone, two types of sedatives, a muscle relaxant, an anti-inflammatory drug and four bottles of a painkiller nicknamed 'hospital heroin'.
