Jarrod Beinerman was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail last September after pleading guilty to stealing items from the suite at New York's SoHo Grand.
James Jimenez, who allegedly also took part in the burglary, is now on trial and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, WENN reports.
Dunst explained that she and Pegg had realised that some of their possessions were missing after filming the final scenes of How To Lose Friends And Alienate People.
"It was our last night of filming so we were celebrating," she said. "It was probably a $2,000 (£1,248) purse. My purse had $2,000 in it, a pair of sunglasses, my wallet with all my credit cards."
Pegg, whose iPod and camera were taken, said: "It dawns on you slowly because, obviously, you don't want to think that happened."
Meanwhile, a member of the film crew explained that the burglars had pretended to be maintenance men to gain access to the suite.
The trial continues.
