Paramedic 'threatened Travolta over death'

John Travolta has admitted that a paramedic attempted to blackmail him over his son's death by saying that he was "culpable" for the tragedy.

The Grease star's 16-year-old son Jett passed away from a fatal seizure while on a family holiday in the Bahamas in January.

Last week, the 55-year-old arrived at the trial of paramedic Tarino Lightbourn and his attorney, former Bahamian Sen Pleasant Bridgewater, who are alleged to have attempted to blackmail Travolta by going public with a medical document relating to his child's death.

The actor told the jury today that Lightbourn demanded $25m (£15.6m) for not releasing stories to the media that would indicate him as being responsible for the passing, Sky News reports.

He said: "They were stories that would imply that the death of my son was intentional and I was culpable in some way."

Both defendants have plead not guilty in the case.
