The Pushing Daisies actress has signed up to appear as Holly Golightly in a new West End adaptation of Truman Capote's 1958 novella until January 10.
A source told the Daily Mail: "Anna has told pals in the production team she feels she is being observed and followed to the wings by people that she cannot see.
"She has even joked it could be Truman Capote. But she is not scared as the atmosphere is warm and not at all unnerving. In fact, she said it was quite nice to have the support."
Friel was backed by a host of celebrity friends at the play's opening night at the Theatre Royal Haymarket earlier this week.
Actor Patrick Stewart has claimed that he saw an apparition at the same theatre in August while he was starring in Waiting For Godot.
