Jon Gosselin 'wants to reconcile with Kate'

Jon Gosselin has revealed that he is attempting to reconcile with estranged wife Kate as a fellow parent.

Earlier today, the father-of-eight ordered TLC to "cease and desist" filming on Jon & Kate Plus 8, following the network's recent announcement that the show is to be retooled as Kate Plus 8, focusing on her role as a single mother.

TLC subsequently stated that production on the reality show is suspended "pending further conversations between both parents".

The 32-year-old claimed that shooting of the series has "been getting in the way of his family" and his attempts to speak with Kate, People reports.

"Basically we've put a halt on the show," his manager Mike Heller said. "Jon has been talking to TLC for a long time to cut back on the production and still honour his contract - because it's been getting in the way of his family, his children are complaining.

"It's been hurting the relationship that he's trying to reconcile with his wife - he's trying to get back with her as a parent."

He added: "People are reporting he was fired. He was never fired. They just changed the name. This is not a ploy - it's an approach that he thinks will help him reconcile with his wife."

Kate earlier issued a statement that Jon's priority is himself.
