Peter Andre has defended his relationship with Katie Price's son Harvey following criticism from the 7-year-old's biological father Dwight Yorke.

In a recent Sunday newspaper interview, Yorke admitted that he wanted to "throttle" Andre when he spoke about wanting to adopt Harvey.

Speaking publicly about the ex-footballer's comments for the first time, Andre told The Mirror: "Harvey is my son and I love him. Nothing Dwight or anybody says will change how much I feel for my little boy.

"When I found out about the stuff Dwight was saying I thought all that matters is I will always be Harvey's dad. I had no idea Dwight felt that way towards me so it came as quite a shock. Although I'm not Harvey's biological dad and Dwight is, it doesn't make a difference."

Price is reportedly backing Andre in the row, despite their own acrimonious split.

He added: "I get to have Harvey this weekend, a full weekend. You have no idea how excited I am. All the kids will be over and I've got lots of fun things planned. That's when I'm happiest."

Andre and Price were granted a 'quickie' divorce at London's High Court last month.
