Von Teese: 'Eurovision censors picked on me'

Dita Von Teese has said that her cleavage was censored during the Eurovision Song Contest because of her voluptuous figure.

The burlesque dancer told Metro that she had been singled out from all the other performers despite not being the most "scantily-clad" person on stage.

Von Teese said of her performance: "The German entry invited me. I'd never heard of Eurovision but was intrigued by it. I was at Jean Paul Gaultier's atelier for a fitting for the Cannes Film Festival and his assistant said Eurovision was Jean Paul's favourite thing of the year.

"It was quite an experience that I'll never forget. My cleavage was censored which I didn't think was very fair as I thought it was supposed to be Eurovision not Americavision."

She added: "I definitely wasn't the most scantily clad person on stage but I was singled out for my voluptuous curves."

Of the possibility of entering the contest as a singer, Von Teese said: "I've recorded a few songs for my shows but I talk my way through them, old Hollywood movie-style. I'd lip-synch. I'm a dancer not a singer."
