The director was arrested in Switzerland last week because of his 1977 conviction for unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl.
According to BBC News, Polanski reached a confidential deal with the woman, Samantha Geimer, in 1993.
Court documents reveal that he agreed to pay her $500,000 (£313,875) but has failed to deliver the money for two years.
The last court filing, from October 2006, states that Polanski owes Geimer $604,416.22 (£379,422) including interest, but the documents do not say whether he has ever paid.
Polanski's lawyer David Finkle said that he does not remember the details of the case and declined to comment. Geimer and her family were also unavailable for comment.
California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently said that Polanski should be treated like everyone else.
