Hilton late for club opening

The Simple Life TV star Paris Hilton was six hours late in attending the opening ceremony for Club Paris, her new venue in Florida.

The hotel heiress failed to turn up to the ceremony on time due to her jet-setting lifestyle. She had previously been enjoying a break in the Swiss Alps and said that it was plane delays that prevented her from getting to the club in Orlando on time.

When Paris did not show, her sister Nicky stepped in to open the $3m (£1.6m) venue on Thursday.

When she finally arrived Paris explained: "I was in the Swiss Alps ski-ing and I got caught out at the airport with all the holiday travel so I've been trying to fly for the past 24 hours.

"I'm so sorry I'm late."
