Cliff and Boy George sing for victims

Pop stars including Sir Cliff Richard and Boy George are recording a fundraising single to provide relief to victims of the tsunami crisis.

It is hoped that the song, Grief Never Grows Old, written by DJ Mark Reid, will raise over £2m for the relief fund, reports the BBC.

Ronan Keating may take part if he makes it to a studio near where he is staying in Switzerland. Robin and Barry Gibb, Chris Rea, Olivia Newton-John and Jamie Cullum are also being approached.

Reid wrote the song before the events of Boxing Day but thought it too depressing to release. Now he wants stars to join in with it and release it under the name of One World Project.

"It's a natural home for it because people kept saying to me, 'it's such a good song', but it's such a sad song," Read said.

"I was totally shocked at the enormity and suddenness of the disaster and in tears on seeing the orphaned children wandering aimlessly in search of their parents."

All funds would go to the Disasters Emergency Committee, dedicated to rebuilding the lives of those affected.
