Gomez: 'I'm not here to replace Cyrus'

Wizards Of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez has insisted that she is not aiming to replace fellow teen stars such as Miley Cyrus.

The 17-year-old is often compared to Cyrus, who shot to fame in Hannah Montana, because both stars have their own Disney TV shows and music careers.

Speaking to The AP, she said: "[I'm] not here to be the next anyone.

"I'm not here to replace anyone. I'm here doing my own thing. I'm proud to be a part of the Disney Channel family and I'm taking it day by day."

Gomez, who recently released her debut album Kiss And Tell with her band The Scene, added: "I can't believe I have a CD! Acting will always be my number one. I just love acting so much. Music is more of a personal thing I like to do."
