Symonds launches new TV career

Andrew Symonds has agreed to become a television presenter on an upcoming travel and sports show.

The semi-retired Australian cricketer, who will join Olympic champion Jodie Henry on Ten's 24-hour sports channel One, is a longtime friend of the programme's creator Ryan Campbell.

Campbell told News.com.au: "Symmo and I have been mates for years and we have always been talking about starting something like this."

He added: "He was my number one choice for a presenter because I think that he is the sort of guy that people genuinely want to have a beer with, which I know has got him in trouble in the past."

Symonds has been fined and barred from cricket games for incidents involving alcohol and violence.
