Shakira: 'I was plump as a teenager'

Shakira has admitted that she was overweight as a teenager.

The 32-year-old said that her "plump" figure as an adolescent was down to the fact that she was more focused on her pop career than her image.

Angry Ape quotes the She Wolf star as saying: "As a teenager I was plump but my appearance wasn't so important at that time.

"I know that image in this profession is a matter of opinion. I think the external appearance in show business is important and over the years I've discovered my assets."

The singer added: "Honestly, I've never seen myself as a goddess or sex symbol."
