Reports claim that the hair, which was shorn from the singer when he joined the US Army in 1958, should raise at least £12,000, but in 2002, a jar of Presley's hair made $115,000 (£72,000).
A source told Bang Showbiz: "Girls mourned when they saw Elvis' slick quiff being shaved off - this hair is some of the most famous and important in rock history."
The hair is part of a collection of memorabilia relating to the star that is being sold by his close friend Gary Pepper.
The auction will take place on October 18.
