Cyrus 'didn't delete Twitter for Liam'

Miley Cyrus has denied reports that she deleted her Twitter account on the advice of co-star Liam Hemsworth.

The Hannah Montana star surprised her millions of followers when she removed her account last week, reports PA.

Her final post read: "FYI, Liam doesn't have a Twitter and he wants me to delete mine with good reason."

Writing on her fan club website, she said: "Now of course rumours have been started that Liam is the reason that I deleted my Twitter.

"Liam is a wonderful friend and he did not try to make me delete my page, he just helped me realise how much time I was wasting on that site."

The 16-year-old, who recently posted a rap song on YouTube about her decision to quit, added: "I often complain to the ones closest to me that I don't seem to have much of a private life any more and part of that is my fault. How can I whine about my life being too public if I am the one telling the world what I am doing?"

Cyrus has been romantically linked to Hemsworth since the pair filmed The Last Song together over the summer. Both have denied that they are dating.
