Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have confirmed that their marriage is over, following months of speculation that their relationship was on the rocks.
Despite posing for pictures together on a Caribbean holiday just days ago, the couple have finally decided that their marriage isn't working.
In a statement, they said, "We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate.
"For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media.
"This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months."
The first rumours of a problem between the pair surfaced late last year. Friends of the couple claimed that they were "living separate lives", and Aniston cancelled a party that she planned to host for Pitt's 41st birthday, following reports linking him to Angelina Jolie.
More recently, Jennifer was pictured arriving in Los Angeles - and she wasn't wearing her wedding ring.
Friends also told US magazines that Brad and Jennifer were rowing over whether to start a family - while Brad wanted children, Jennifer wished to focus on her movie career.
