Stephen Gately 'died of natural causes'

A post-mortem carried out on the body of Stephen Gately has found that the Boyzone star died of natural causes, reports suggest.

According to Sky News, a court official in Majorca has announced that Gately passed away after suffering a pulmonary oedema, which is a build-up of fluid on the lungs.

The representative added that Gately did not choke on his own vomit, as well as confirming that drugs and alcohol were not involved in his death.

A court hearing on the matter was held in the Majorcan capital of Palma today. Gately's family were reportedly informed by a judge that they are now free to fly his body home.

The Irish-born singer was found dead on Saturday. His family went on to rule out foul play and insist that his passing was a "tragic accident".
