Howard K. Stern and the doctors accused of providing prescription drugs to Anna Nicole Smith have made their way to court.

The partner of the late reality show star was recently charged with six more felonies associated with procuring the drugs.

A preliminary hearing is to begin in a Los Angeles Superior Court today to determine if there is enough evidence to place Stern, Dr Khristine Eroshevich and Dr Sandeep Kapoor on trial for the 2007 death, E! reports.

Stern has been called the principal enabler in the matter and faces a total of 11 felony counts, including obtaining fraudulent prescriptions. The medical practitioners each face half a dozen similar counts.

The trio have pleaded not guilty to their respective charges, which supposedly tie them to a combined total of 44 different prescriptions that Smith had taken prior to her passing.

The preliminary hearing is expected to take upwards of one month to determine.

Stern, Eroshevich and Kapoor were initially charged in March for the alleged crimes. They have previously maintained their innocence to the counts against them.
