Max Clifford has claimed that fame does not bring happiness.
The celebrity publicist hinted that the celebrity lifestyle should be avoided when he spoke at the Cheltenham Literature Festival recently, the Daily Express reports.
Clifford is quoted as saying: "I work closely with famous people and have done for a long time, and I am able to tell you how empty and meaningless most of it is.
"People think fame equates to money and success and happiness - and in 99% of cases it doesn't."
The 66-year-old currently represents Simon Cowell and a string of other celebrities. He also worked with Jade Goody before her death in March and took care of Kerry Katona's publicity until being sacked by her last year.
