Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a new bill giving stars more rights to sue over incriminating paparazzi pictures or photos that invade their privacy.

The Terminator actor and Governor of California's new act permits celebrities to take media companies to court for using photos that have been improperly obtained.

Photographers will apparently face fines of up to $50,000 (£33,000) if they take snaps of famous people taking part in "personal or familial activity".

The new rules should be in place by January next year.
