Gilmour to receive honorary doctorate

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour will receive an honorary doctorate from Anglia Ruskin University.

The guitarist will be named a doctor of arts by the establishment at a ceremony due to take place in November, NME reports.

Comedian Lee Evans was also confirmed to be presented with the same honour by the academic institution, which has campuses in Cambridge and Chelmsford.

Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker is due to be awarded an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University next month.
