Halderman, an employee of CBS News, denies attempting to extort $2 million (£1.2 million) from The Late Show host by making public details of his relationships with female members of his staff.
Letterman admitted to the liaisons on his show earlier this month, claiming that an individual was attempting to blackmail him.
Halderman, 51, allegedly demanded a "large chunk of money" from the 62-year-old host after giving him a screenplay outlining the affairs, the BBC reports.
