John Mayer 'denies gay kiss rumours'

John Mayer has denied reports that he stormed out of a gay club after a man kissed him.

The singer, who has previously dated stars Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, enjoyed a night out at Toucan's Tiki Lounge in Palm Springs, CA last weekend but dismissed speculation that he was intimate with a fellow clubgoer.

In a post on his Twitter page, he wrote: "Rumour check: went to gay bar in Palm Springs, yes. Had a blast. Danced my face off. Someone there planted a kiss on me? No.

"I don't like the story painting gays as unable to control themselves. Found the crowd even more respectful than in a straight club. You know who the most flamboyant crowd is? Straight, drunk girls. They're like a bunch of little Charles Nelson Reillys."

Mayer was earlier forced to deny claims that he kissed Perez Hilton at a New Year's Eve party in New York in 2007.
