Meteor Ireland Music Awards nominations

The shortlist for the 2005 Meteor Ireland Music Awards have been announced.

The sixteen awards will be presented at a ceremony on February 24 at the Point in Dublin by Ed Byrne.

Among the nominees are Snow Patrol, who are up for Best Irish Band and Best Album (Final Straw) and Damien Rice who is nominated for Best Irish Male.

In the running for Best International Male are Morrissey, Eminem, George Michael, Robbie Williams and Kayne West, whilst Anastacia, PJ Harvey, Natasha Bedingfield, Kylie Minogue, Joss Stone and Bic Runga made up the list for Best International Female.

Bands hopeful to win the award for Best International Group are Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Killers, Outkast, REM and Scissor Sisters.

Nominees for Best International Album are: Aha Shake Heartbreak (Kings of Leon), American Idiot (Green Day), Hopes and Fears (Keane), Hot Fuss (Killers) and Scissor Sisters' and Franz Ferdinand's eponymous offerings.
