Strokes star signs up for marathon

The Strokes musician Nikolai Fraiture has apparently signed up to run the New York Marathon in November.

Fraiture, who will raise money for the New York Road Runners Foundation's Team For Kids charity, said that taking part in the race will fulfil a childhood dream.

The 30-year-old wrote on his blog: "I will be helping raise the funds needed to support youth fitness, goal-setting and nutrition programmes throughout America and Africa while fulfilling, as a New Yorker, a life-long dream of running the marathon."

Actors Anthony Edwards and Edward Norton are also taking part in the race.
