Kristen Bell: 'I can't stand my voice'

Kristen Bell has confessed that she hates the sound of her own voice.

The Couples Retreat actress revealed that she goes to great lengths to ensure that she avoids hearing recordings of herself.

She told USA Today: "I can't even hear it on an answering machine. I throw the phone across the room. It's too high-pitched. I hear it all day, every day, so I'm over it."

Bell went on to explain that she dislikes the way her Michigan accent becomes more exaggerated when she is around friends from the area.

Of her bond with Michigan-born actor boyfriend Dax Shepard, she added: "We were raised the same way. We're both very aware that this could evaporate in an instant and you better have a back-up plan, and I'm not talking about career. I'm talking about sanity."
