The UK media watchdog group previously received a record 21,000 grievances surrounding journalist Jan Moir's piece about the late Boyzone singer.
The column claimed that his passing was "strange and lonely" and "not, by any yardstick, a natural one", despite an official post-mortem report to the contrary.
A spokeswoman for the record label confirmed that it has contacted the PCC, BBC News reports.
The regulatory organisation earlier approached the Daily Mail for a response, pending a decision whether or not to launch a full-scale investigation into the matter.
Moir recently apologised for any offence that her article caused.
