Jade Goody's family have been awarded £35,000 in damages over photographs taken at the reality star's private burial.

Mirror Group Newspapers and picture agency NewsPics agreed to pay compensation and legal costs to seven members of the family over the invasion of privacy and breach of confidence.

The People newspaper carried the image on the front page on April 4 and included it in a special pullout the following day.

Goody's mother Jackiey Budden, grandparents John and Sylivia Caddock, aunt and uncle Angela and Trevor Cox, and cousins Lee and Danny Andrews settled the action today, the BBC reports.

The High Court had approved a consent order stipulating that MGN Limited and Newspics Limited would not publish, republish, syndicate, use or disseminate any of the photographs of the private burial or any similar photographs in the future.

MGN have reportedly written to the family apologising for publishing the images and accepting that they had reasonable expectation of privacy at the burial.

Goody died on March 22 after battling cervical cancer.
