The Leaves Of Grass actor, who has recently had to join Twitter to log his training for a charity run, said that he thinks sites like Facebook and MySpace are "torture".
Norton told Parade magazine: "I haven't personally really engaged in a lot of this new kind of social networking stuff like Twitter or Facebook or MySpace. I mean, the notion of people following what I am doing every day is like torture for me."
The star added that he understands networking online for positive reasons, saying: "It's a good example of a way that you can turn that platform into something where you actually can accomplish something good. We're putting our running training log on Twitter. We are actually developing kind of a web-based viral campaign to get support."
Talking about his new exercise regime, Norton added: "I'm running back home in New York. It's very intimidating, and I'm definitely feeling the aches and pains. But... I feel like I'm making a lot of progress."
