Friends deny Simpson, Butler romance

Jessica Simpson and Gerard Butler have not begun dating, according to a friend of the singer.

Rumours that the Dukes Of Hazzard star was romancing Butler were fuelled earlier this week after they were allegedly spotted dining together in New York.

However, a source close to Simpson has told Us magazine that there is "nothing romantic there at all".

A friend of Butler's added to Gossip Cop: "[There is] 100% no romance."

Butler was previously linked to his Bounty co-star Jennifer Aniston, while Simpson split from Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo in July.

Neither Butler nor Simpson have commented on the recent rumours.
