Cowles: 'I don't want Gately's money'

Stephen Gately's husband has reportedly said that he doesn't want any of the late singer's money.

The Mirror claims that Andrew Cowles would like Gately's reported £10 million estate to go to his family and to charity.

He allegedly told a friend: "I don't want a penny. I was never with Stephen for his money and don't need it now. I want his family and his favourite charities to get the cash."

A source explained that Cowles was impressed with the way Gately's family supported him.

"He feels they were a huge support to Stephen throughout his life and that is what he would have wanted," the insider said. "He wants some good to come out of his death and for charities and his family to be recognised."

The source continued: "It's been such a tough time for him but now he's having to sort out the business end of things. He had to register the death in a council office and now lawyers are sorting out who gets what.

"Andrew told them he had no desire to inherit the millions Stephen made through his success. He pointed out their relationship was always based on love and not material things and that's the way he wanted it to stay even after his death."

Cowles is also reportedly planning to sell the Majorca apartment where Gately was found dead earlier this month.
