Zoe Ball: 'Booze stopped me conceiving'

Zoe Ball has revealed that she believes that giving up drinking helped her to get pregnant.

The TV and radio presenter, who is expecting her second child in two months with DJ husband Norman Cook, said that she plans to avoid alcohol even after she has given birth. The baby will be a sibling to the couple's 8-year-old son Woody.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she admitted: "Norm and I had given up hope that we would ever have another baby. We had tried for so long and nothing happened.

"It really does feel like a gift that I am pregnant again and I am just so happy. I don't want to take anything for granted, but we are in a great place right now.

"We felt that it was obviously not going to happen. Then I gave up drinking, Norm came out of rehab, we went on holiday with Woody and six weeks later, I was pregnant.

"It was such a shock, but a happy one and I had to do several tests. I had done tests before and I'd always had that disappointment of 'oh no, I'm not'.

"This time I really was. I cried for a week as I just couldn't believe I was finally pregnant. I definitely believe the fact we stopped drinking was the reason I got pregnant and why I had not before.

"Now this little thing inside me has got a chance of being fairly healthy as I have never been so healthy as I am right now.

"This year is all about just enjoying ourselves and eating what we want. Next year we will get fit. Norm is going to do a marathon."
